The IAP2 Skills Symposium allows you to select courses to match your levels of expertise, experience, and interest. The event will focus on professional development - equipping you with the knowledge and skills to plan and use participation to achieve more effective outcomes.
Come for a day or two or stay the whole week! The flexible program will allow you to select and pay for only the sessions that suit your individual needs.
WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING WILL BE AVAILABLE?
The IAP2 Skills Symposium will focus on four themes:
- Basic public participation skills (featuring the IAP2 Certificate Training Program)
- Advanced techniques
- Elements of facilitation
- Broadening P2 horizons - the edge of the practice
Running concurrently with the training sessions will be a series of networking activities that will provide opportunities to build on and integrate learnings from the training sessions, network with like minded practitioners and users of public participation, and link expertise and new skills to both theory and good practice.

- IAP2 Core Values award celebration
- IAP2 Annual General Membership meeting
- IAP2 Research Forum

HOW WILL THE EVENT BE ORGANIZED?
The IAP2 Skills Symposium will take place over 5-days and will feature four marquee training events delivered by luminaries in the P2 field including Peter Sandman and Larry Susskind.
In addition to the marquee events, the Skills Symposium will include smaller, more interactive sessions (4-5 per day) ranging from 1/2 day sessions to 3-day sessions and the entire 5-day IAP2 Certificate Program.
